The landfill is closed on all US federal holidays. The dumps on the landfill are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the applicable state laws.
The Waste to Energy Facility Washington buries trash and garbage below secured and stratified layers of dirt and isolating material. The transfer station accepts Aluminum cans and foil, Corrugated and non-corrugated, cardboard Clean Pizza Boxes, Glass bottles and jars (no lids), Mixed paper (not shredded), Most types of paper (no coated or laminated), Other metal cans, including empty aerosol cans (no lids or tips). Small pieces of scrap metal Barbecue (plastic wheels and knobs removed). The following items cannot be recycled: Garbage (Trash) TV’s and Electronics (E-Cycle WA), Light bulbs (Light Recycle WA), Food Soiled Pizza boxes and paper (Yard Waste), Syringes (Household Hazardous Waste), Batteries (Household Hazardous Waste), Bows and ribbon, Plastic bags and film Garden hoses Rope and wire Shredded paper Styrofoam.
